Pike Place Market: Piroshky Piroshky

Piroshky Piroshky opened their doors in 1992, melding local flavors with Russian pastries. Their website describes piroshky as handheld filled pies, with recipes and variations found in households throughout eastern Europe.

They make their piroshky from scratch, hand-form and shape them, then serve them up straight from the oven to you. Their top-seller is the Beef & Cheese, made with Columbia Valley Sharp Cheddar. The Smoked Salmon is a local fave, and they also have sweet pastries.

I’ll keep saying this: With anything in Pike Place Market, go early to avoid the lines. Everything on the menu is under $5.

P.S. – Don’t miss the view of “The Mountain” (aka Mt Rainier), the Waterfront, and the Olympic Mountains from Victor Steinbrueck Park across the street.
